About Vesper

Vesper is a prominent witch in the Others' society hiding in plain sight: posing as "Nina", an Ordinary woman. After Shen told her about the meeting with Nova (main character), a time catcher, she decided to recruit the rare witch for The Incineration Alliance.

Formerly, Vesper was the Supreme Witch of the local coven before it disbanded. She loved training the other witches and didn’t want the coven to break up, but the other witches decided they didn’t want to take any more chances. Now she is a businesswoman with her own agency – a large real state agency -, money, and power.

The money and connections allow Vesper to keep funding the Nest and to help Others. The Nest is a building that shelter the Others who don’t have their own safe house; they can stay there as long as they need. Vesper doesn’t live there but visits often, because important meetings take place at the Nest, too.

When it comes to her business, Vesper is strict and serious, and always looks for solutions to any problem that might potentially arise. She claims that she wouldn’t have been able to achieve even a third of what she has if she wasn’t posing as an Ordinary. But she is tired of hiding. However, for her, the mission is above everything and everyone.

Vesper is a very principled woman, who believes in her ideals. She plans of changing the world for the better and thinks it is an achievable reality. She lives for the cause, and does a lot for the magical community and for the Others who live in the Nest - they believe and trust her. Her allies take her directions seriously, out of gratitude and respect.

She grew up in a home for Others like most of them. That’s why she is surprised when she finds out that Nova grew up with a family; few people are so fortunate. Many Others have never felt the love of a guardian or what to do with their lives after been released from a home.

Vesper does much for Others’ community. She is respected and became a leader throughout devotion and dedication. Vesper wants freedom for Others. The Incineration Alliance has the goal to change the world and to find the Source of power, an ancient legend that the Vatican is hiding. The Source is their last hope for real change.

If you take her diamond scene of S2, Ep3 Vesper tells Nova how she feels pressured by the mission and everyone's expectations on her. She says that if it doesn’t work out, everyone will know that behind all her strength, composure, and calculation, there’s an ugly fear that is strangling her. Vesper is afraid of failing and not living up to expectations, but what scares her the most is the idea that everything will just stay the way it is. That everything will be in vain - her aspirations, her hardships, her entire life.

Vesper has always been headstrong. She sees nothing but the goal, for better or for worse. Her mentor Lucia tells Nova in S2, Ep4 that Vesper used to be like a wolf: temperamental and toothy. And that, with age, she had become more like a snake: waiting somewhere in the shadows until the time comes for her strike.

Halfway through S2 you discover that Vesper already knew that Nova was a spy for the Vatican, but kept the secret while the time catcher was extremely necessary for the Alliance; but as they are getting closer to the Source and the stakes are higher she decides to bring everything to light for her allies and test the main character's loyalty. If Vesper has a good relationship with Nova, she is even more torn about the situation but believes in her.

As Nova proves her loyalty to Others, she and Shen are left on the brink of death when the Conduit's power is transferred to them in a mission to steal it from the Vatican. If you have a good relationship with Vesper, she feels very regretful and guilty for her orders, especially if she is your love interest. However, she implies that she would do it again, not because she wants to, but because it needs to be done and she always does what needs to be done.

In a diamond choice of S2, Ep11 Vesper tells Nova that growing up in the orphanage was tough, but at least she was surrounded by other kids like her and she and them were always up to no good, pulling pranks and whatnot. They’d use magic to throw the teacher’s journal on the roof, or dye drinks in the canteen blue. They got punished, but she cherishes those memories.

Vesper also shares that she knows who her parents are. Although she was sure she’d regret it if she found them, she couldn’t stop herself. She started searching for them once she had achieved considerable success. She even met with her father, a businessman. Vesper scheduled a meeting under the guise of being interested in collaboration with him. He didn’t recognize her, which was good for her cover, otherwise it would have destroyed all of Alliance's plans. It was a big risk, but for some reason she didn’t care. She wanted him to recognize her, she thought it would mean he hadn’t forgotten her.

Relationships

Nova (MC): Vesper becomes interested in the main character after discovering that she is a time catcher. Their relationship can be strictly professional, friendly or romantic.
Shen: They are close. Shen is Vesper’s right-hand man. They’ve known each other for a very long time.
Onyx: They do assignments for Vesper. Onyx also has a room in the Nest, but rarely spends the night there.
Lucien: He is Constantino clan's representative when it comes to cooperation with Vesper. It was her initiative the alliance with the vampires, but this “collaboration” is very new.
Jorge: Her herbalist. He lives in the Nest and really admired Vesper.
Bea: Her driver. She is an Other that pretends to be an Ordinary to work for Vesper.
Sappo: He is an owl and her familiar.
Nazima: A witch who grew up in the same orphanage as Vesper. They were inseparable, but fought constantly.
Lucia: Her mentor. She says that Vesper and Nazima were the students who held out the longest, they didn’t refuse lessons.
Zoryana: A witch who had the same mentor as Vesper. Zoryana was Magistra Lucia’s last student.
Rhydian: He is a warlock, and was Shen’s mentor long ago and for a short time. Rhydian and Vesper disagree on some things about where to draw the line in the pursuit of freedom. According to him, Vesper would go to any lengths to achieve her goal, even if that results in a war, and he doesn’t share those ideals – and that’s why he left the Alliance.
Father: He is a businessman, and didn’t recognize her as an adult.
Younger sister: Vesper doesn't know her personally. She discovered her existence when she visited their father's office in disguise and saw family photos. Vesper thinks she was luckier than her.
