Vellora is a love interest in the book The Thunderstorms Saga.
About Vellora[]
Lady Vellora is the sister of the Queen of the Esshai Kingdom, sister-in-law to King Airdal and aunt to the princess of the Esshai Kingdom, Princess Fanuel. She has considerable influence in the politics of the Esshai Kingdom as the assistant to the ambassador of the Kingdom. Although she comes across as strict, elegant and dignified, she was very close to her niece and takes the well-being of Tiss quite seriously.
Vellora is a Highborn due to her being born in an influential Esshai family. Her sister would end up marrying King Airdal, making her the Queen of Esshai. Her sister moved to the palace and would have a daughter, Fanuel. Although her sister was now the Queen, Vellora was an infrequent palace guest and chose to spend most of her time in her homeland. Growing up, Vellora was close to Fanuel and they would often visit each other. They became distant once Vellora started learning archery and Fanuel became more devoted to the Kingdom. During this time, Vellora would spend a lot of her time hunting and would assist in getting rid of enemies or monsters. She would eventually get married for a short period of time.
In Season 1, Vellora is chosen to be the assistant to the ambassador of the Kingdom. She is to assist in the marriage of her niece Princess Fanuel of the Esshai Kingdom and Prince Tai of the Empire, as well as to assist in political matters between the two countries. Following the death of Fanuel, Vellora, Ainloth, Tenerly, Tiss, and other Esshai members are taken into Empire grounds. During her stay, Vellora is unable to leave the Empire due to the ongoing investigations of her niece's death and the death of an Empire Lord, killed by Tiss. Although she is unable to leave Empire grounds, she is able to walk freely in the palace and talk to Empire Imperials due to her diplomatic status. Vellora uses this to her advantage in order to help other Esshai members such as Tenerly and to help Tiss navigate uncharted territory. Despite the limited freedom that Vellora has, she does her best to communicate with the Esshai Kingdom discreetly, with the help of Tiss.
Vellora is generally treated with respect in the Empire and is included in discussions between the two countries, but she has had to sometimes go to great lengths to get what she wants such as personally waiting for King Foelh to discuss the release of Tenerly. She provides solutions to problems such as sending Tiss as an Esshai representative in place of herself to help resolve a conflict at the border. She has a lot of confidence in Tiss and is generally unmoved when it comes to her faith in her. Outside of politcal matters, Vellora is often invited to social gatherings by Princess Laimir, but attends them to retain diplomatic peace rather than personal enjoyment. Throughout Season 1, Vellora is shown to be distrustful, suspicious, and cold towards the Empire due to them being the enemy, therefore she does not show any emotion around Empire Imperials and advises Tiss to be cautious as well. She is especially cold when Fanuel is mentioned, feeling as though they are not sincere in their condolences and instead are trying to see a weak moment. Despite this, Vellora understands the gravity of the situation and remains cooperative with the Imperials, knowing she would do anything for her Kingdom.
