This page lists the characters appearing in the book The Desert Rose, however very minor characters that have minimal bearing on the story may have been omitted from this list.
Main Character[]
Yasmin

Yasmin is the daughter of a tyrannical politician, Kadir, in Sefer, Morocco. The story starts with her being set up in an arranged marriage and Yasmin decides to run away to escape her fate. However, an epidemic has caused all flights out of Morocco to be cancelled, forcing her to stay.
Most choices you make for this character influence one of the following variables: Reverie ☀️, Rebellion 🗡️, The Desert Flower 🌹 and The City Kid 🏙️. These choices change the story, the interactions you have with other characters and the scenes you will be able to play.
Love Interests[]
Mustafa

Mustafa is the son of a family friend of Yasmin's father, Kadir. Yasmin and Mustafa have been set up in an arranged marriage that neither of them agree with. He makes a deal with Yasmin in order to get out it, but until then they have to pretend that they are in love with each other.
Cindy

Cindy is a model from Brazil. She meets Yasmin in jail when she's wrongly arrested for prostitution and thievery. Yasmin makes a deal with the police officer in order to get Cindy released.
Adil

Adil is a Bedouin (Nomad) who is the adopted son of Ali, the man that saved Yasmin in the street. Adil is described as being even tempered but argumentative. He dislikes the city and does not hide his anger for Yasmin's father.
Jack

Jack is from Brazil and a childhood friend of Yasmin's. Yasmin believed him to be dead all these years after he disappeared suddenly and she overheard her father talking about a family that got into an accident. Now he's back in Morocco to visit Yasmin's father about something important.
Zain

Zain is a friend of Kadir. He is described as being a dark horse. No one knows anything about him except that he is rich, influential, and single.
Saeed

Saeed is first seen next to pamphlets that had Yasmin's father on them. He did not speak and when Yasmin asked him questions he wrote them down. Later he saves Yasmin from a man trying to hurt her and her guard.
Jaffar

Jaffar is Yasmin's personal guard. His late father worked for her late grandfather. He takes his job seriously but also understands Yasmin's need for freedom. Jaffar becomes a possible love interest at the end of Season 2.
Upper Class in Sefer[]
Kadir
Kadir is Yasmin's father. He is the leader of the Bukra party and people fear him. When he first came to power he gave the people what they want but has slowly become more tyrannical in his politics. Now the people are starting to rebel against him.
Bashir
Bashir is Yasmin's cousin. His deceased father was Kadir's brother. Bashir is described as being distant and not keen on socializing at the party when you first meet him.
Muna
Muna is Yasmin's cousin. Her deceased father was Kadir's brother. Muna is looked down on for marrying for love, especially now that it's obvious the marriage did not last.
Ghafur
Ghafur is Mustafa's father. Him and his family work in the pharmaceutical business and he is responsible for administering the drug that the hospital has been using to treat the new virus.
Rabia
Rabia is Mustafa's mother and does not seem to have much respect for Yasmin.
Amira
Amira is Mustafa's older sister and appears to take after her mother, Rabia.
Jaria
Jaria is Mustafa's younger sister. She just turned 18 years old.
Idris Saleh
Idris Saleh is regarded as one of the gray cardinals that runs the city of Sefer, Morocco. A proponent of traditional values and has a very negative attitude towards Western influence. He is described as being very cunning and loves putting on a show.
Murad Saleh
Murad Saleh is Idris Saleh's son. He is married to Mustafa's sister, Jaria, a marriage arranged by their mother. He is also considered the city's interim leader while Kadir is ill and unable to lead. He has a reputation for being cruel and sadistic.
Research Team and Doctors[]
Caroline
Caroline is a colleague of Jack's in Morocco to research the virus. She is described as being strong willed and opinionated.
Ottavio
Ottavio is a colleague of Jack's in Morocco to research the virus. He appears to be quieter and more polite than his counterpart, Caroline.
Shakib Muhsin
Shakib is a doctor that is helping Jack and his colleagues with their research at the hospital in Sefer.
Augusto Palmeira
Augusto Palmeira is a well known doctor in Brazil. Jack and him are at odds with each other. Jack believes that he is unethical and not handling the virus the way he should be which has resulted in many patients dying.
Servants[]
Zuleika
Zuleika is Yasmin's wet nurse at the palace. She has become like a mother figure to Yasmin and cares about her very much.
Leila
Leila is a maid at the palace Yasmin lives in.
Farida
Farida is the servant for Mustafa's family.
Merchants and Bedouins[]
Akram
Akram is a childhood friend of Yasmin's. He is a merchant who owns a fruit stall and he grew up in the orphans' quarters of Sefer, Morocco.
The Rebel

The Rebel is a mysterious character giving speeches in protest of the injustices in the city of Sefer, Morocco. He also appears to have an interest in Yasmin for some reason.
Ali
Ali is a Bedouin (Nomad) who met Yasmin when she was a child after his son had been executed for drug trafficking. Later Ali saved Yasmin when he finds her passed out in the street and brings her back to his tent, where she meets his adopted son, Adil.
Rajab
Rajab is a friend of Adil's and also a Bedouin. He was seen playing the drums with Adil in the square and then later seen trying to talk to Adil about a mysterious plan.
Madi
Madi is a friend of Adil's and also a Bedouin. He plays the flute and was first seen performing with Adil in the square. He appears to be the youngest in their group.
Omar
Omar is a Bedouin that helped Jack's father when he was there researching the last virus. He is not receptive of Jack when he finds out who's son he is but he does not explain why. While Yasmin and Jack ask him questions, Omar tells them the story about the famous desert rose.
Gurub
Gurub is a Bedouin and an orphan. She was not always a nomad, she used to work at a restaurant and danced. She also has a crush on Adil but believes that she has no chance with him.
Badi
Badi is the qadi of the Bedouin tribe in Merzouga. He is very welcoming to Yasmin and her group and, depending on your choices, he will help her a lot or only a little when it comes to finding the desert rose.
Brazil[]
Dona Lucretia
Dona Lucretia is a close friend of Jack's. He says she is like a beloved aunt to him even though they are not related. She is a café owner, described as being strict but fair. Yasmin rents the guesthouse from her during her stay in Rio.
Carla
Carla is an employee at the company Yasmin worked at while staying in Brazil. She has a suspiciously close relationship with Dr. Palmeira and does not like Yasmin very much.
James Blackmort
James Blackmort is sponsoring a show that Cindy has been hired to be in. He appears to be very rigid and conscious about his image. Jack says that there must be a cultural event after because he does not approve of pointless shows. Cindy says he is a good man that does charity work and supports the arts, helping a lot of families.
Julia
Julia is Cindy's mother. She appears to be very hard on Cindy and only interested in setting her up with a rich guy who can take care of her.
Francesca
Francesca is a good friend of Zain's from Italy. You only meet her if you're on Zain's romance path and Yasmin gets a little jealous of her. But it appears they really are just friends who get along very well and have known each other a long time.
Other Characters[]
Salma
Salma is a dancer who was first seen performing at a party at Yasmin's house. She appeared pale and unbalanced and disappeared shortly afterward. Bashir, Yasmin's cousin, has been accused of kidnapping her.
