Su is a love interest in the book The Flower from Tiamat's Fire.

About Su[]

Su and her little brother Shimun were born in a small village near the border. Their mother was sick for a long time, up to the point where she couldn’t get out of bed and didn’t even recognize them anymore. Shimun was contantly mobbed by other kids and Su did her best to protect him and teach him how to keep himself safe. The siblings were sent to the Children's Home after their mother died. When they arrived there, Su couldn't use her magic yet, which caused other mages to dislike her and humans to chase her away. Being the older sister, Su contantly had to fight the other kids for food, for a place under the tree or for school supplies.

Her life only got easier one year later when Nikkal and Ethan came to the orphanage. The four kids became friends and teamed up against the bullies, Su being the one to make sure they had enough food to survive. Niall, the warden of the magic academy, took them out of the Children's Home and became their guardian. He sent them to school, visited them often and brought gifts. He also checked their magic skills and enrolled them to the academy when it became clear that there was nothing more they could learn at a normal school.

When Nikkal and Niall leave the Academy to look for Ethan who had gone missing, Su decides to tag along and support them. They return to the Academy after Leahy, Shimun's girlfriend, also goes missing and Su has an important talk with her brother about what they are risking for the ones they love. She ultimately joins Nikkal and her friends in seeking out Tiamat and preventing the ancient goddess from destroying the world. When they reach the land of the humans, Su has a hard time not being able to use her magic because of their anti-magic devices, and realizes that not having magic scares her more than anything.

Su is a talented water mage and pretty gifted when it comes to herbs. She brews excellent infusions and knows which plant to use for healing or how to put people to sleep. Su's a rather serious person and can be controlling at times, almost smothering her friends, but underneath all that is a passionate, caring and loving friend and sister. Su studies hard and is always among the first to help a community in need.

Su's zodiac sign corresponds to Capricorn.
Ursa, the writer, mentioned that Su is 170cm tall.^[1] However, her profile on VK and Facebook states her height as 5'4 (163cm).
While being in the Children's Home, Su stole a knife from the kitchen to carve an ocarina as a birthday present for Nikkal. She's got a scar on her hand because of it.
Su was often teased for not being able to pronounce the letter "l". When she met Nikkal, at first Su called her "Nika" because she was afraid to pronounce her name. Nikkal encouraged her to use her full name, and in the end, Su got rid of her complex. But for them, the nickname "Nika" remained forever a symbol of closeness and friendship. Both of them used to braid each other's hair if someone upset them.
Ursa stated that if Su lived in the 21st century, she would listen to bands like Evanescence, System of a Down and Breaking Benjamin.^[2]
Because of her past, Su is afraid of young boys, and rather cautious when it comes to men in general.^[3]
Her favorite color is purple.

Possible endings[]

If Nikkal convinces Tiamat to spare the world and saves Shimun, she and Su are still together thirty years later. The mages follow Nikkal’s lead, and with the help of Ashurbanipal, she unites them with the humans. Su teaches water magic at the Academy. The couple is quite busy with their obligations but makes plans to find a quiet place where to live together. In the meantime, they spend free moments together at the campfire.
If Nikkal convinces Tiamat to spare the world but can't save Shimun, she and Su are still together thirty years later. The mages follow Nikkal’s lead, and with the help of Ashurbanipal, she unites them with the humans. Su misses her brother dearly.
If Nikkal doesn't convince Tiamat to spare the world but saves Shimun, she and Su they stay together but Nikkal is constantly tormented by nightmares of Chaos. The mages lose all their power and don't unite with the humans. Thirty years later, Su and Nikkal live a quiet life together, supporting each other. In the end, Chaos comes and destroys the world.
If Nikkal doesn't convince Tiamat to spare the world and can't save Shimun, she and Su stay together but Nikkal is constantly tormented by nightmares of Chaos. The mages lose all their power. Thirty years later, Su teaches water magic theory at the Academy which is slowly falling apart. The death of her brother has made her into a hard and authoritative woman, only able to show kindness when she's with Nikkal. Mages and humans are still divided, and Nikkal gets blamed for everything that had happened. In the end, Chaos comes and destroys the world.
