Sarah O'Neill is the main character you play as in the book Shadows of Saintfour.

Her name can be changed at the beginning of the story or it can stay her default name. In the beginning you can personalize her appearance by choosing between four different ethnic features. You get to play as an adult and a teenager. The grown-up main character will look like the teenager you create at the beginning.

Most choices you make for this character influence one of the following variables: you can follow the paths of Courage ✊ or Caution ⚠️, while also earning points for your Image ⭐. Starting Season 3, you can also choose to Starve Your Inner Demon 👿 or Feed Your Inner Demon 😈. These choices change the story, the interactions you have with other characters and the scenes you will be able to play.

About Sarah

Sarah is a high school student whose family moved to Saintfour in the fall of 1986 due to her parents' financial problems. Before that, she lived in Baltimore. When the story starts it shows her currently back in Baltimore before returning to Saintfour for the funeral of Mrs. Hill.

Relationships

Love Interests:
- Luke Moring: A friend, but can become her boyfriend.
- Michael Turner: A friend, but can become her boyfriend.
- Derek Nixon: A friend, and can become her boyfriend in the present.
- Stephanie: A friend, but can become her girlfriend.
- Aaron Hill: A friend, and can become her boyfriend in the present.
- Cherry: A friend, and can become her boyfriend in the present.
- John Hall: He is introduced in Season 2, and can become friend, enemy or love interest.
- Masked Man: He is the main villain in Season 3, and a possible love interest.

Other Characters:
- Candy Nelson: Best friend.
- Bobby Turner: Friend. He is Michael's brother.
- Adele Moring: Luke's sister and Michael's ex-girlfriend. She is MC's foe, but becomes friends with her in the present.

Pet Companion

You can adopt a black cat, black dog, or raven for free and it's name can be changed after obtaining it in Season 1, Episode 4 from Miss Hill. The pet helps Sarah throughout the story. It is later revealed it belonged to Annette.

Possible endings

⚠️SPOILER ALERT⚠️

Caution ⚠️ and Starving Demon 👿: You defeat the deadly curse, and the freak circus vanish from the face of the earth.

Caution ⚠️ and Well-Fed Demon 😈: You don't manage to defeat the curse, and the freak circus will return to Saintfour again in ten years. But you can choose:
- Join the Masked Man and become a circus' owner; or
- Stay with your friends and love interest, but become a circus freak after you die.

Courage ✊ and Starving Demon 👿: You don't manage to defeat the curse, and the freak circus will return to Saintfour again in ten years. The Masked Man kills you but:
- If you romanced John in Season 2: You can choose to stay with John in the Dream World or return to your friends and other love interest in the real world.
- If you didn't romance John: Annette appears in the Dream World, telling you it's not your time, and the Faun send you back to your friends and love interest in the real world.

Courage ✊ and Well-Fed Demon 😈: You defeat the deadly curse, however, you give birth to a new curse and you, Bobby, Derek, and Candy become part of it.
