Rix is the main character you play as in the book Gladiator Chronicles. This is the first book in this game where you can play as a male MC. You can personalise his name and appearance, choosing between four facial features.

Most choices you make for this character influence one of the following variables: Strength 🦏 or Agility 🐆, Mercy 🤲 or Cruelty ☠️ , and Honor 🌟. These choices change the story, the interactions you have with other characters and the scenes you will be able to play.

About Rix[]

The story so far moves between two timelines: the present time, at Caesar's palace, where Rix is conversing with Caesar, and the events that happened five years prior, when Rix was first imprisoned and sold as a gladiator.

Rix Auster was born on Paitrum, a planet with a very hot sun and sandy dunes, where he lived in the capital Kardom with his mother, father and younger sister Darea. He was born into a family of former members of the Order of the Clerics. He loved his quiet life spent in the company of his family, his best friend Orvon and his girlfriend, Tori. One day, however, a mysterious stranger and his soldiers attacked the planet, apparently murdering his parents after accusing them of desertion and theft, and enslaved him and Orvon. Darea's fate is unknown so far but Rix is determined to find out what happened to her. Tori's whereabouts are also unknown.

While in the slave market, Rix and Orvon befriend Afiy, whose planet was also captured. The three young men are sold by a slave trader to a wealthy man from Neo Rome. His name is Cassius Flavius and he is a Consul - one of the highest political positions in New Rome - and a Lanista - the owner of a gladiatorial school - and he brings them to his villa on planet Blore, where they are to be trained to be gladiators. There, they meet other gladiators - Graut, Hotch, Gars and Stortia - as well as Flavius' two daughters and son - Augusta, Paulina and Labelle.

In Season 1, Episode 3, Rix's mother appears to him in a dream and tells him that she is not sure if her father and she are dead but she feels in a sort-of limbo state. She says this 'instability' is not death and she feels different every day. She thinks their bodies were affected by Scarium. Also, in the same episode, some hints are given to the fact that Rix's nature might be hiding some secret.

Scarium is the primary energy source for cleric technology. It's extremely small, expensive and rare. It can take on any form and turn into any substance. The clerics use Scarium to attack planets, taking all of the minerals from them. This is what happened to Old Earth, Forsaken Mars and Withered Venus. Thanks to Scarium, humans were able to make other planets habitable, recreating the atmosphere and conditions once found only on earth.

In Season 1, Episode 5, Cassius Flavius implants a microchip inside Rix's head. This microchip prevents him from escaping, allows him access to areas decided by Flavius and prevent him from touching his daughters and son, although Paulina, Cassius' younger daughter, says that they are allowed to touch: it's just that Rix cannot take the initiative. In the same episode, when talking to Graut about implants, Rix learns that people without any kind of synthetical implant are called 'unmarked'.

In Season 3, Episode 4, Rix discovers information on all of the people in their group. They describe him as: Decisive and strong-willed. Not shy about using violence and dictating his terms in a harsh manner. Empathetic and gentle, prefers peacefully resolving conflicts but does not avoid them. Acts decisively. Has leadership qualities and is capable of sacrificing himself for the sake of others. An individualist who sees no point in leading others or making sacrifices in the name of greater ideals.

Gendal the cat[]

We meet Rix's family cat at the beginning of the story, however it is not until Season 2, Ep1 that we will be able to interact with him. In this episode we are able to rescue him from the ruins of Rix's family home and you are given a chance to rename him. The default name for the cat is Gendal. In this episode, Tori will be taking the cat with her and you don't have a chance to keep him.

In S2, Ep 4, we have a chance to save him from a collapsing coliseum for (💎101) and we can then bring him with us on our journey. While the cat's screentime isn't a lot so far, the few scenes with him are very funny and cute.

In March 2023, the official RC Vkontakte account published a series of promotional images featuring Gendal as the host of a game they offered to their Russian subscribers.

Trivia[]

Rix considers himself an expert on all matters of love, but his best friend Orvon doesn't fully agree.

Possible endings[]

If Rix does not defeat the Pontifex: Rix and his sister Darea die. [❗ You unlocked the "A New World, Without Us" ending.]
If Rix defeats the Pontifex:
- Stortia ending: Stortia wishes to return to Ferit and Rix goes with her, not wanting her to have to choose between the things she loves most. She tells Rix she wants them to have children together so she can teach them everything she knows.
- Orvon ending: Orvon tells Rix that he doesn't like big, crowded cities and would prefer to go somewhere a little quieter, like his home planet. Rix tells him that as long as they are together, he doesn't mind where they are so the two of them go back to Liis together.
- Afiy ending: Rix feels empty and Afiy tells him it's time to fill his soul with something brighter than sadness. They decide to go travelling together and Rix happily says that there's so much to see in the universe that he doubts they will ever be back.
- Paulina ending: Labelle abdicates the position of Caesar to Paulina so he can travel the galaxy. Paulina vows to be a fair and merciful ruler and tells Rix they will rule together.
- Labelle ending: Labelle is the new ruler and is anxious about the power that comes with it, but Rix assures him that he will be a good leader and that he loves him.
- Augusta ending: Labelle abdicates the position of Caesar to Augusta so he can travel the galaxy. Augusta vows to be a decisive and tough ruler who doesn't fear drastic changes or hard decisions. She tells Rix that the position truly belongs to him.
- Astoria ending: Tori tells Rix she wants to travel to see the universe. She wants to go someplace where no one knows them and start a new life. She promises Rix they will come back if things start going bad again and he feels like his help is needed, but then we are told that everything kept being well and they ended up never returning.
- Single ending:
  - Rix travels with Hotch to find Hotch's relatives
  - Rix remains in Capitolium alone. [❗ You have unlocked the "True Loner" ending.]
