"I’m the first in everything!"
Prima is a character in the book Arcanum.
About Prima
Prima is a mysterious girl, about fourteen years old, that Selena/Lilith (the main character) meets in Season 1, Episode 2. It is Liam Salisbury who introduces them. He says that Prima came out of nowhere on the Hotel Valle Deliria doorstep a couple of weeks ago and that she had nowhere to live, so Josephine took her in. But Prima disagrees with that; she says she's on her own, like a cat.
For Selena/Lilith, Prima sees the world as one big farce – the same way she sees it herself. Prima finds everything entertaining; she is rebellious and is always laughing. But behind that ostentatious eccentricity lurks a cunning and intelligent mind. The main character soon realizes that she shouldn't underestimate this young girl.
Prima likes to tease the main character and encourages her to fully live the realities where she finds herself in each season. She manages to be childish and strict at the same time. In a funny and provocative way, she helps Selena/Lilith follow the path of redemption. But some of these assistances, especially from Season 2, only happen if the player chose to improve their friendship.
In Season 1 (Totspel), Prima says that her parents died in an accident, so she was left alone and decided to find a new home. She claims not to know where she came from and believes it makes the slightest difference. In Season 2 (Valle Deliria), she pretends to be Selena/Lilith's sister and tells the main character that she remembers everything that happened in Totspel. In Season 3 (Kingdom of Shadows), Prima has ears and tail of a cat and an enigmatic smile, and she can magically disappear and appear at any time. The similarities between her new role and the character "Cheshire Cat" from "Alice in Wonderland" are many, but this has not been mentioned explicitly in the story.
Relationships
- Selena/Lilith (MC): When she meets Prima, the MC soon realizes that the young girl knows more than she says, which makes her suspicious of Prima. From Season 2, Selena/Lilith gets used to her presence, but it's up to the player to improve their friendship. Investing in their relationship can give positive consequences for your playthrough.
- Liam Salisbury: In Season 1, Prima lives in his hotel. Liam says she is weird and that’s why he loves her. He thinks she is a hilarious girl and likes her intricate games; and Prima loves to play with him. In Season 2, they practically don't interact. In Season 3, despite Liam not remembering her, Prima easily frees him from the portrait in Episode 2 as a gift because he played with her in Totspel.
- Josephine Salisbury: In Season 1, Prima lives in her hotel and loves to play pranks on her, but Josephine doesn't like it at all. In Seasons 2 and 3 they do not interact.
- Damon: He is first introduced in Season 2, and Prima doesn't hide how much she admires Damon and finds him handsome. She says she doesn't understand why Selena/Lilith treats him coldly.
- Tarot Reader: In Season 1, Prima says that everyone knows him but not personally. In Season 2, she says that they don't keep in touch and that him is no longer in that reality. In Season 3, she says he is waiting for the main character, but that he will try to make this path as difficult and dangerous as possible for Selena/Lilith. At the end of the journey you discover that he is actually one of the incarnations of the main character, representing her current essence.
- Old Woman: The other incarnation of Selena/Lilith. She represents the essence of the main character in old age. Her end, the sunset of her life.
