Nova is the main character you play as in the book W: Time Catcher.

Her first name can be changed at the beginning of the story or it can stay her default name. You can choose her appearance between two body shapes and four different ethnic features. And this is the first book where you can choose colored contact lenses for your main character.

Most choices you make for this character influence one of the following variables: Sun Emissary ☀️ (gentle and emotional) or Moon Heiress 🌙 (composure and restraint). Your choices can also influence Status 📜 (respect and privileges) and Power of Presence ⌛️ (magical abilities). There are also hidden stats that determine the main character's loyalty to Others or to the Church. These choices change the story, the interactions you have with other characters and the scenes you will be able to play.

About Nova

Nova is a witch who lived in the shadows but finds her way into the magical community at the beginning of the book after being caught by the Magisterium of Preternatural Affairs for stealing. She is an uninitiated witch, so she doesn't have a brand. Nova chose this path to blend and not attract attention - until now, at least.

She is a time catcher, that means she has an ability to break through veils time - as for now, only short periods. The state she enters when she looks into the past is called fata morgana. Nova has one of the extremely rare types of magic, and therefore it attracts the interest of those who become aware of it.

Although Presence usually manifests itself during adolescence, with Nova it was clear right away. Her parents didn't like having a witch daughter, since they were both Ordinary, but they didn't give her up to a shelter for Others, so she grew up with them.

As soon as she became old enough, she moved out to live on her own, but decide she’d rather not get marked – which is a consequence of the Initiation. So, Nova lived discreetly, somewhere between Others and Ordinaries. She didn’t know anyone from the magic community.

After Nova was fired of her work as an administrative employee at a museum, she tried to find a new job. She received several refusals for being a witch and after running out of money she lost her patience and decided to use Presence to steal. But it failed, and she ended up in the Vatican’s dungeons, where the story of this book begins.

- Shen Zheng: He is a warlock the main character meets in the Magisterium's cell at the beginning of the book.
- Onyx: They are an animamorph who is tasked with watching and protecting the main character.
- Vesper: She is a prominent witch who decided to recruit the main character for reasons still unknown.
- Lucien: He is a vampire the main character meets at Vesper's Nest.
- Renato Bernardi: He is a priest the main character meets during her Initiation.
- Tallis: He is an animamorph the main character can save. You can romance him only on a polyamourous relationship with Onyx.
- Jorge: He is a herbalist who lives in Vesper's Nest. They become friends and can be romantically involved from Season 3.

Casual Love Interests:
- Marco: He is a warlock the main character can help at the beginning of the story. If she chooses to help him and is single, they can become sex partners at the end of Season 2.

Nova's familiar

In Season 1, Episode 9 you can choose to have a familiar, animals that have been chosen by Presence. But it is not like having a pet. After the bonding ritual, the animals remain their own masters, but you can contact them if you need help or just company.

Having a familiar will strengthen your Power of Presence ⌛️, and they’ll make appearances during the story. For 💎100 you can choose between Eris (he is an ermine), Aritzia (she is a falcon), and Cerse (she is a snake). Note that if you have a close enough relationship with Onyx, you can also ask her/him to become your familiar for 💎156 - this choice will improve your relationship, romantic or platonic.

It is important to have a good relationship with your familiar. Mutual interest means there’s potential for a strong bond. After the bonding ritual, the fideliar (an Other bound to a familiar) and the familiar can feel and understand each other, through instincts and abilities. Your familiar will be an extension of you, this connection is unique for everyone.

Novas has been curious about art and history since she was a child. She had no friends, so she always had a book in her hands, even when she wasn't studying. She didn’t have much fiction at home, mostly religious texts and some scientific works – that was what she read. She enjoyed them and even came up with biographies for historical figures and added all sorts of silly facts.
