Mustafa first appears after it is announced he is arranged to marry Yasmin. His family is said to be close with Yasmin's father. Mustafa later approaches Yasmin and offers to make a deal with her because he doesn't want to get married either. He does not believe in love and he has other plans but does not elaborate on what they are. The deal is for them to pretend they are in love with each other and then Mustafa will leave, people will look for him but not be able to find him, buying Yasmin some time.
Regardless of his feelings about the arrangement, he prides himself on being a gentleman and it is immediately apparent that he cares about Yasmin to some extent. He was rebellious as a child and that helps him understand Yasmin's feelings and why she acts carelessly sometimes.
Mustafa's family distribute drugs for sick patients in Morocco. They are also distributing drugs to treat the virus going on right now. He considers medicine to be a wonderful and noble science but it is not something he is interested in and does not want to follow in his family's footsteps. He appears to be the black sheep of the family because he studied in the US and is considered more progressive.
Right before the wedding, Mustafa reveals to Yasmin that he only came to Morocco to save his sister, Jaria, from a marriage to Murad Saleh. But when he arrived he was immediately arranged to marry Yasmin and had to go along with it until he could safely escape with his sister. Unfortunately, his mother informs him on his wedding day that his plans were for naught and his sister had already been married. He has a confrontation with Murad Saleh and has to flee back to London but plans to arrive in Brazil shortly to meet up with Jack and his team.
His mother starts creating problems for him at his job. They become wary of keeping him as an employee because of the controversy going on in Sefer with the changing leadership, the virus, and his sister now being married to such a powerful man. Mustafa finds out that Jaria is pregnant and, at the end of Season 2, returns to Sefer with Yasmin to confront his mother and try to save his sister.
Mustafa gets back to Sefer and tries to talk to his family but he is exposed by Saleh as a follower of the rebel and arrested. Jack, Adil, and his friends infiltrate the prison and get him out but he is now a fugitive who has to disguise himself as a woman every time he goes outside.
