Murphy is a Love Interest in the book Rage of the Titans.

About Murphy[]

Murphy and Andrea attend the same university. They used to be friends but drifted apart lately.

At night, he helps Adrian Newman and his family at the Underworld club. His responsibilities include keeping an eye on the club, going to business meetings and running errands. During the day he studies at the university and plays in the football team.

In episode 9 of the first season, Murphy is revealed to be Cerberus, the multi-headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving. Hades granted him the ability to turn into a human - he's able to access his mythological form by turning back either halfway (human form with dark skin and fire cracks) or full. Murphy describes himself as "Hades' minion" and a "monster". He has several brothers and sisters, but many of them died in battle.

Murphy’s usually self-assured and bold, but deep down he fears rejection and builds up walls to protect himself. After falling in love with a human once he got rejected because of his true identity; that's why he's convinced no one is ready to love him with all his faults.

Relationships[]

Andrea (MC): According to Andrea, they used to be friends but fell out lately. He still cares for Andrea. They can be friends or more depending on the player's choices.
Adrian Newman: His friend and roommate. They play in the same football team and work at the same club, but with different responsibilities.
Jason: Friend and member of the same football team.
Heather: Friend. He used to hit on her before realizing she only dates girls.
Theo Green: Friend.
Tate from On Thin Ice: They have been friends for a long time. Murphy lets Tate ride his motorcycle.

Trivia[]

The developers redesigned Murphy's appearance for the update in March 2021.
Murphy gets mentioned in two crossover episodes with the Romance Club book On Thin Ice.
He occasionally smokes to ease his nerves.
Whenever he's in the Underworld, Murphy takes care of two dogs named Vivi and Mylo because he couldn't save from their unethical breeder when they were still alive.

Possible endings[]

Humanity Ending: Murphy will be the Underworld club’s executive director until Hades comes back. If he is your LI, he takes Andrea to the gazebo first and to a sushi restaurant later where they talk about their future plans. Andrea and Murphy will also move in together.
Divinity Ending: According to Aisa, Murphy will stay at Adrian's side in Hell. Even so, satisfied with little, he will be truly happy. If he is your LI, they talk about their divine duties in the Underworld's garden. Murphy says that Andrea's always welcome there and he'll wait for her, even if it takes a thousand years.
Oblivion Ending: Chaos gifts Andrea a new life without her memories. She meets Murphy after waking up near Portland and they feel an instant connection. Their ending is left open.
