Minhyuk is a songwriter who gets hired to work with SIRENS at the beginning of the second season. He is credited with numerous top hits and known for his creativity and talent.
Minhyuk spent most of his life in Europe. His father is the main producer and owner of an entertainment agency, but Minhyuk decided to work for PJK Entertainment instead. He agreed to the contract as SIRENS' new songwriter on the condition that he could make any changes to the group's image, videos, and lyrics - and whatever else he wants. Acccording to Luna, SIRENS' leader, he comes across as extravagant, self-confident and even brash.
When he was a kid, Minhyuk's family went through a lot wih him because of issues with his eyes, and everyone was worried he might end up going blind. He went through a ton of surgeries, but in the end, his eyes remained very sensitive. As a result, he often avoids sunlight because it's causing him terrible discomfort. Thanks to his overprotective parents, Minhyuk's childhood and adolescense were filled with rules and restrictions, and when he hit adulthood, he felt free for the first time. Now, he has several tattoos and piercings.
After catching her investigating a suspicious restaurant, Minhyuk kidnaps Luna and brings her to his home. He explains that he came to the agency to find out why Mi-yeon, an idol he was close to, died. They were childhood friends until her father got into shady business and Minhyuk's parents distanced themselves from her family to protect their reputation. Despite that, Minhyuk and Mi-yeon continued their friendship. She left him a voice message before seemingly taking her own life, asking him to find Luna and work together with her to find the ones responsible for the death of Luna's sister, Seo-yoon, who she was in love with. Minhyuk wants to put an end to the elites who drive idols to suicide. He and Luna continue their investigation together and start to get closer. When they are alone, Minhyuk drops his superficial, arrogant persona and shows his caring side. To make sure he can do his best to protect her, he gives Luna a bugged ring that allows him to track her movements.
