Mehmed is a love interest in the book Dracula: A Love Story. Please note that this is a toxic relationship with someone who has serious behavioral issues. ⚠️Trigger Warning⚠️: Mehmed's storyline includes an attempted sexual assault. It is down to the player to decide whether to forgive him for it or not. Either way, the love Mehmed feels for Lale/Laia is obsessive, so please read with caution if you decide to follow a romantic path with this character.
Mehmed is the youngest son of Sultan Murad which makes him a cousin to Lale. He is interested in her romantically since marriage between first cousins was an accepted practice in this historical setting. Depending on your choices throughout the book, your relationship with him can be romantic, friendly or cold.
In Season 1, we meet Mehmed as the boorish, arrogant son of Sultan Murad who has just returned to Edirne at the behest of his father. According to his father, Mehmed and Lale were close as children and used to play together until Mehmed was sent away after a mysterious accident. He studies in the same class as Lale, Vlad, and Aslan but looks down on the two boys and is generally rude and full of himself. He is appointed as the new Sultan by his father but that doesn't stop his arrogant behavior. He will make some advances toward Lale that you can decide to reject more or less strongly. Based on how strongly you decide to reject him, your relationship with him can be more or less strained.
In Season 1, Ep 8, Mehmed verbally threatens Lale by suggesting he wants her to go to his chambers to sleep with him. In Ep 9, he will physically try to grab her while she is in his chambers, with the intent of assaulting her. How forceful his attempt will be depends on how good your relationship with him is up to that point: if you rejected him more strongly, he will be more aggressive. Regardless, Aslan and Vlad will stop him and save Lale from being assaulted. Sultan Murad is furious, removes Mehmed as Sultan and then sends him away again.
Following this event, you can decide whether to keep hating Mehmed or finding it in your heart to forgive him. Based on your choices, his attitude and behavior change significantly during the course of the story. If you keep hating him, he will remain the cold, calculating and arrogant character we have met in Season 1, never really acknowledging his faults in a sincere way. If you decide to forgive him he appears - at least at the time of writing - to genuinely regret his behavior and work to better himself.
He will actively court Lale with letters and gifts from Season 3, and if you decide to accept his courtship you can share some romantic moments with him. However his internal monologue makes it clear how his love borders on obsession. If the player chooses to romance Mehmed, Lale will learn that he has developed a keen interest in art, philosophy and military strategy. Lale will also find out that the newly developed garden in Edirne was designed by Mehmed himself, which was inspired by Greek and Roman gardens.
In Season 4, Mehmed will appear in the present and seems intent on pursuing Laia as he previously had Lale. Lale's relationship with him in the past will affect how he treats Laia in the present. It is unclear at this time whether this Mehmed is an immortal or a reincarnation, however, the story seems to indicate he may be an immortal of some sort.
The story is ongoing and at the time of writing we don't know yet how this romance will progress.

Trivia[]
The ages of historical figures such as Vlad Dracula and Şehzade Mehmed were adjusted slightly for the sake of the story.
Mehmed and Lale are nearly the same age, but the Şehzade was born first. Historians know his exact date of birth: March 30th.
Romance path[]
Note: The choices in Season 1 - episode 4, episode 8, and episode 9 are not for relationship improvement but they are options that prevent Mehmed from becoming more angry with Lale. It is not required to avoid the choices that make Mehmed angry in order to pursue a romantic relationship with him later but it is recommended if you want his interactions with Lale to be less aggressive in Season 1.
