Max

Max Fall is one of the two main love interests in Moonborn in terms of screen time and amount of interactions with Mia, the main character you play as.

About Max

Mia meets Max at the end of Season 1, when she saves his nephew Sean from a vampire attack and is injured in the process. Max brings her to his family home to recover and there she learns of the existence of werewolves. To thank Mia for saving Sean's life, Max will make a blood oath pledging to protect her with his life.

Pursuing a relationship with Max will affect future relationships with other characters. If you decide to romance him certain scenes/options with other future Love Interests will either not be available at all or will be cut short. If you romanced Victor prior to meeting Max, the very first sex scene with Max in Season 2, Episode 7 will be cut short, stopping at a kiss, as Max tells Mia that he doesn't want it to be just a fling so she ought to choose between them.

Mia and Max's relationship throughout the book is very close. Whether they become lovers or remain just friends, Max is constantly at Mia's side, trying to help her solve the many mysteries happening around her and supporting her in thwarting the plan for world domination from the book's main antagonist.

Max has four possible endings according to your choices: he can survive while not being in a relationship with Mia, he can survive and be in a relationship with Mia, he can survive while being in a relationship with Mia but decide to break up with her due to her inability to save him (he will start a relationship with Samantha Obie instead as she saves him), or he can die protecting Mia. His life is in danger if you don't have enough relationship points to save him when he is mortally wounded. Please note that if you are pursuing Victor instead, Max's life will not be in danger as it will be Victor to hurt himself trying to save Mia, but if you are pursuing any other character, Max will be the one trying to save Mia by default, even if they are only friends, so his life can still be at risk.

Biography

Max is a preschool teacher because he loves children. He jokes that they make him look good and most of all smart, and likes to tell Mia cute episodes from his work life. He also loves the outdoors and is a scout leader. Max is a sunny, positive person who loves to make light of any situation, even dangerous ones, but he can be serious and focused when needed. He is very reliable and honest, and whether he will become Mia's boyfriend or remain just a friend, he is a loyal, kind and helpful ally throughout her adventure.

Max is very close with every member of his family and loves to cook for them and spend time outdoors. He owns an apartment in the city but also spends a lot of his time at his family's home in the woods. His passion for life and proactive, infectious energy are some of his best qualities. The Fall family owns an sports equipment and outdoor activities shop, which they run together. Although they are doing well for themselves, they are not as rich as the vampires.

If they are in a relationship, Max calls Mia 'hero' because, he says, 'heroine' sounds too pretentious. He appreciates the fact that even when scared, she is able overcome her issues, many of which are things that most people would have not been able to, He says that he considers her his 'fragile hero'. In Season 5, Episode 9, Max's sister-in-law Helen will tell Mia that despite her not being a werewolf and not entirely human either, Max has chosen her and even if his family, specifically pack leader Ralph, had different ideas on who Max should have ended up with, they have accepted her. She also says that werewolves are monogamous: once they choose, they choose for life.

We learn about Max's past in a diamond scene in Season 2, Episode 8. Max was born in Canada, but when he was about Sean's age, his parents died, so he and his sister Aubrey moved to live in the United States with their older brother Ralph, who was about to marry Helen, a local werewolf woman. Their uncle John and grandfather Conrad - both relatives on their father's side - moved in with them to help raise them. Ralph took on the job of leader of the Fall pack, although traditionally it would have been their uncle John's role, because John is a loner, has no interest in being a leader and joined the pack only because he wanted to be close to Max and his siblings to support them after they were left orphaned. Max says that he is in touch also with his mother's side of the family but less often because they are in a different pack and they still live in Canada.

Max explains that werewolves' health is better and they live longer than humans, although they are not immortal. Being a werewolf, Max can shift into his wolf form at any time. He says that inexperienced werewolves can only turn when it's full moon and can't control themselves, but if you are born a werewolf, the period of poor self-control happens when you are still an infant. Those who turn because they were bitten are more challenging because they go on a killing rampage at first. When Mia's work colleague Trevor gets bitten by werewolves in Season 2, Episode 9, Max will help him get through this difficult transition and adjust to his new life.

Mia learns the history of the relationship between vampires and werewolves through her conversations with Max. In a diamond scene in Season 1, Episode 9, through a series of flashback scenes, we are shown the very first encounter between the two supernatural species. It happened in Europe, during a war: two knights called Von Baum and Von Diels, who were also werewolves, stepped inside a medieval castle. They had just conquered the premises when the owner of the castle, vampire Armel De Loconte, arrives to fight them. They eventually settle their dispute and a balance is created. You will see De Loconte again with the grandsons of Von Baum and Von Diels (who look identical to their ancestors) in a series of diamond scenes in Season 5, episode 6, when the last Twilight Guardian goes to see them to talk about a the then state of events

Max considers vampires proud and arrogant, and dislikes the fact that the majority hunt humans, while werewolves are loyal and rarely hunt humans any more. Vampires are more numerous, and that's why werewolves avoid conflict as they can't afford a large scale fight.

Depending on your choices, Max can either start a relationship with Mia or with Samantha Obie, the alpha from a different werewolf pack. Max's brother Ralph asks him to help build a relationship between the two wolf packs by dating Samantha. Depending on whether Max is a relationship with Mia or not, Max can be very angry at his brother, or simply annoyed. Ralph still insists and Max will go on a cinema date with Samantha, however if this relationship progresses or not depends on your choices throughout the story. Max tells Mia that Samantha is difficult to get along with because she is always trying to prove her worth to everyone. Max suggests she might be suffering from a sense of inferiority.

Max's sister Audrey also becomes Samantha's close friend and tries to encourage her relationship with Max, as she believes that the fact that Samantha is a wolf means that she understands Max better than Mia ever would. In Season 4, Episode 5, Mia goes to Max's house where she finds Audrey and Samantha waiting for him. Max is momentarily out of the house because he went to the corner shop. What happens in this scene will be different based on whether or not Mia is romancing Max. Samantha is slightly rude and jealous towards Mia either way, but if Mia is in a serious relationship with Max, once he returns home he kisses and hugs her in front of Samantha and makes it clear that they are a serious couple. He can be more or less affectionate depending on how close the relationship is. If Mia is not in a relationship with Max, he does not do anything once he's back and Mia thinks to herself that him and Samantha would make a cute couple.

If at the end of the book Mia decides to become a Twilight Guardian, she meets a young werewolf, Andrew, who got hurt defending his friends and as a result of his sacrifice turned into a powerful werewolf. He will be taken in by Max Fall's relatives who live in Canada waiting for him to become old enough for Mia to mentor him.

Mia (MC): Friend or girlfriend, depending on your choices.
Sean Fall: Nephew. Sean looks up to Max and takes any opportunity to follow him around.
Ralph Fall: Brother. Max has a good relationship with his brother, however he doesn't appreciate the fact that he seems to be pushing him to date Samantha Obie, for the good of the wolf pack.
Helen Fall: Sister-in-law.
Audrey Fall: Sister.
John Fall: Uncle.
Conrad Fall: Grandfather.
Victor Van Art: Friend/acquaintance. Despite the tension between vampires and werewolves, Max and Victor will work together to help Mia.
Benny Bart: Acquaintance. Max is on friendly terms with him.
Samantha Obie: Acquaintance/Girlfriend, depending on your choices.
Trevor: Acquaintance. Max helps Trevor when he gets accidentally turned into a werewolf, and the two become friendly in the process.

Trivia

He likes to cook for his family and cooking is a skill his dad taught him. He says he only feeds the ones he loves.
He likes to drink brandy and he prefers to eat meat.
If you don't pick the romantic scene with Max in the river in Season 2, Episode 7, Mia has a chance to steal Max's clothes to try and prank him. Max outsmarts her by shifting into his wolf form so he doesn't have to walk back to his house naked.
As a teenager he took part in many sports competitions. In his bedroom there are trophies for running, basketball and kayaking.
Before Mia, he has had no serious relationships. His sister-in-law Helen tells Mia wolves are monogamous and choose only one mate for life.
The body temperature of a werewolf is higher than a human.

Possible endings for Max

If Mia is in a relationship with Victor, Max's life is not in danger and he will survive the final battle.
If Mia is in a relationship with Max and they are very close, he will get mortally wounded to help her, but Mia will save his life and the two will become engaged. (Read S5, Ep. 11 Epilogue for Max's romance path ending)
If Mia is in a relationship with Max but they are not close enough - hence she is not able to save him - or if Mia is in a relationship with anyone else apart from Victor, one of these possible two scenarios will happen:
- Max is saved by Samantha. For this to happen, Mia needs to have ensured her help when she spoke to the Obie pack leader in Season 5, Episode 10. If he was dating Mia, he will break up with her and start dating Samantha instead.
- Max will die, killed by Ethan Wood.
