Masked Man is an antagonist in Season 3 and a love interest in the book Shadows of Saintfour.

About Masked Man

The Masked Man's real name is never revealed. He is one of the most controversial characters in SOS. Depending on how the player sees his story depends on if they see him as a monster or an unhappy man.

He does mention he owned a shop making custom masks for anyone. He was the best in town. During that time, he dated John's sister Annette. They were in love and happy together. Until one day, his shop caught fire, he barely made it out alive and was forced to wear bandages on his face for weeks. When it came time to take them off, he had horrible burns on his face. Annette took one look at him and was horrified by his appearance. It was that day he lost faith in humanity and realized they only judge the outside and not the inside.

A fit of rage, he managed to convince John and Eyra that Annette was a witch, causing them to testify against her. As they watched her burn at the stake..a painter painted their portrait making them become the cursed holy quartet.

He tells Sarah (MC) that when he gets lonely, he makes masks that fit who he deems as sinners.

Annette: An ex-girlfriend, was in love with her.
John Hall: It is not known if they were friends other than he was Annette's brother who testified with him that Annette was a witch.
Eyra: It is not known if they were friends other than he convinced her to testify against Annette

Interesting fact: When the Man was little, his father often brought him to executions for entertainment. Many witches were beautiful girls, but their faces were so distorted by pain that they became frightening; their pain was ugly. That’s when the Man thought about masks that can always hide pain and ugliness—no one will ever guess what is hidden under your mask.

Possible endings

⚠️ Caution and Feeding inner demon 😈 : Sarah will have an offer to be with the Masked Man. If she chooses to go, they sleep for ten years then resurface. She ends up actually loving him and being a circus owner alongside him.
