Lada is the main character you play as in the book And the Haze Will Take Us. Her name can be changed at the beginning of the story, or it can stay her default name.
Most choices you make for your Main Character in this book influence one of the following variables: Compassion 🐺 (A compassionate character is attentive, obedient, and hardworking. She sympathizes with people and cares about their lives.), Determination 🐐 (A determined character does what she wants, regardless of what others think. She is curious and reckless.), Reality 📍 (shuns the cursed fog and seeks the protection of the gods), Haze 🔆 (urges you to explore the unknown, disregarding the will of the dead gods), and Ties ⭕️. These choices change the story, the interactions you have with other characters and the scenes you will be able to play.
Lada is a young girl living with her family in a small village surrounded by a mysterious fog, called the Haze. Her father Ratmir is a sheperd while her mother takes care of the house. Lada, a rather clumsy and reserved girl with no talent for spinning yarn, dancing or cooking, has been growing up in the shadow of her twin sister Vereya who is more gifted and very popular. Their older sister Hannah, born one year before them, appears to be mute. Her family is considered wealthy and has never known poverty, having everything they need for a quiet, decent life.
The story starts when Lada and Vereya turn 18 on the first day of the vernal equinox. After the celebration in the forest, Vereya disappears and is later found dead. Devastated, Lada notices that the birthmark she shares with her sisters, shaped like a circle, has now changed - the circle has broken and lost its shape. She takes on Vereya's tasks and visits the priest Volot and Sirin at their house, trying to learn more about her sister's fate from them. Together with Vereya's friend Tata, Lada is determined to find her sister's killer.
Not long after her Vereya's funeral, Lada starts seeing her sister's ghost and is convinced that she is still around, not able to pass over to the realm of the dead. When the High Priestess notices that Lada sees and hears things that others don’t, she suggests that Lada becomes the student of her grandson Ozar, the village's Magus.

Dragan: Friend, acquaintance or love interest. A blacksmith and childhood friend of Lada and Vereya. He seems to like Vereya and usually mocks or ignores Lada.
Ozar: Friend, acquaintance or love interest. The Magus of the village. Ozar never paid attention to Lada until he sees her dance at the beginning of the story.
Tata: Friend, acquaintance, or love interest. A dancer and close friend of Veraya. She is always kind and polite to everyone but comes across as pretending and lonely.
Sirin: Friend, acquaintance, or love interest. An outcast everyone suspects of being a witch.
Volot: Friend, acquaintance, or love interest. The young priest who protects the village.
Novak: Friend, acquaintance, or love interest. A stranger who came out of the haze.

Vereya: Lada’s twin sister. She is popular and beloved by everyone in the village.
Hannah: Lada and Veraya’s older sister. She never speaks a word.
Ratmir: Father. He's a shepherd.
Sophia: Mother. A beautiful and charming woman, bubbling with life.
Milon: Friend.
Siana: Granddaughter of the High Priestess, a young girl who helps taking care of Hannah.
Ingegerd: Ozar's and Siana's grandmother, the High Priestess. She likes Lada and notices her gift for seeing and hearing what others don't.

Lada loves animals and is always happy to tend to the sheep, enjoying the peace and silence.
She doesn't want to get married and is afraid to give her heart away.
