About Killian[]

Killian Lightwood is a British military attaché escorting the task force in the investigation.

During his young adult life, Killian worked as a mercenary for wealthy people who preferred to remain in the shadows, so to say.

At the age of 23, Killian was sent to complete various missions in Derry, Ireland in 1973 when the conflict in Northern Ireland was at its’ peak. There he met Emmet Rose and the pair bonded over the gruesome nature of the job they were hired for. One day however, Rose disappeared without a word to Killian, causing him to fear the worst had befallen his friend. This also made Killian worry about his own safety, but feel helpless as there most likely wasn’t a way out of the mercenary life he had fallen so deep into. That is until, Emmet Rose appears out of the blue one day offering Killian the option to work for the British government and be under their protection. Or wait for the day when others would be sent to kill him.

Killian started to fear for his life and wanted to escape but felt doing so would be helpless. That is until, Emmet Rose appeared out of the blue and offered Killian a solution by seeking help from the British government.

Since then, Killian had his past sealed and worked for the British government for seven years as a military expert.

In present day when the task force was assembled due to Diplomat Hayes’ disappearance, Killian was assigned as the attaché of the group in order to escort and protect the team members.

Valuing his work and putting it above most aspects of his life, Killian gives off a serious and strict demeanor. This does not however help him in his love life as he is still single. Nor does it help him in his social life as pointed out by Lima when he is unable to give Amala a simple compliment and instead insults her.

Due to his past, Killian is always trying to prepare for the worst but tries to prevent it so his colleagues won’t be hurt or affected. As displayed by his actions in trying to protect Amala from the first gruesome ritual murder the team had to investigate to find clues about Hayes’ disappearance.

This in turn however, prompts Killian to grow close to his team members and to worry about them as time passes. This also spurs the intense anger he feels towards Ratan Vaish, to the point where Killian can’t stand to be around him as he feels Ratan is putting the task force members in further danger, rather than helping them.

When his anxiety reaches its peak, Killian starts to clean to ease his tension. This can go to extremes, such as when he polishes all surfaces in a room until they shine. The situation improved when he got a job with the British government and felt protected by his employer. He was given access to therapy, which helped him. However, in rare cases, his OCD makes itself known, and Lightwood is very shy about it.^[1]
