Greg is a love interest in the book Heaven's Secret: Requiem.
About Greg
Greg is a young and strong guy who is part of Dmitry's squad. He first meets Lane (main character) in the living room of Rotkov’s estate.
He is determined and has a casual and open demeanor that makes him quite likeable. And he uses his charm a lot - his charming manner seems to have some kind of superpower, and his smile usually makes women melt.
However, at the beginning of the story, the disappearance of Nick, a good friend of his, results in Greg being unable to maintain his cheerful smile, but he tries to keep up appearances.
In the diamond choice of S1, Ep4 Greg hints that he has lost loved ones, watched the spawn rip his friends apart right in front of him, and that other friends disappear and come back as one of the infected trying to tear him to pieces.
As the story progresses you discover that he joined the squad three years ago, when the rift appeared, with the intention of helping people and, especially, finding his stepsister, Emma. If you take his diamond scene from S1, Ep8 Greg tells Lane that, before the disasters began, his stepsister got a government internship at a science center in a closed facility which did not allow personal phones. He and their family saw Emma only once that year, looking haggard, and older than her years. She wasn’t the same person he knew, and she didn’t want to talk about anything. For Greg, seeing her empty eyes was scarier than any of the abominations.
Then Emma left again, and, after a calm period, she called from somewhere and said that she had submitted her resignation. But Emma never contacted them again. Greg tried to find out what kind of research center it was but had no luck. And after the rift, he saw a recruitment add calling up volunteers for Adam. Its logo, the same as Siberia’s, was on her stepsister’s badge. Greg is willing to find the truth himself.
If you take his diamond choice from S1, Ep9 you discover that he studied to be a geologist. But at the beginning of his studies, he didn’t get along with his professors and hated having his freedom thwarted. They saw him as a promising student and showered him with invitations and scholarships, but he thought all of it would cage he in, so he took some time off.
In his time away of graduation, Greg traveled to Peru, Bolivia and Fiji. He felt like a child learning about the world for the first time. But then someone from his group was torn to pieces by a panther, and he realized that even nature has clear rules - and he wanted to know them. So, he went back, studied, and graduated like a normal person.
In S2, Ep1, since Dmitry is incapacitated, Greg takes the leadership role in the squad after no one stepped up to take the responsibility. He takes on this burden willingly, understanding that his decisions will not please everyone. But the fact that he takes other people’s feelings into account and tries desperately not to be the bad guy makes the new responsibility somewhat challenging. After Dmitry recovers, although he returns to command the squad, Greg sort of becomes second in command leading part of the team when they need to split up.
In S2, Ep9 Greg finds out that Dmitry already knew about his sister Emma and his motivation for joining the squad. Although Dmitry was upset that Greg came to his squad ready to lie while the others were risking their lives, he decided not to kick him out to give Greg a chance to find out what happened to Emma and to reclaim the family that was taken from all of them.
In the next episode, Noah looks for information about Greg’s sister. He starts looking for projects from the military science base Siberia. Searching for the project Adam, he discovers that it is an attempt to dismember immortals in order to understand their nature – “a look at Heaven from a scientific perspective” – and that Emma was working on it.
