Deshawn is a love interest in The One Volume 1.
About Deshawn[]
Deshawn is the third contestant Chloe meets on The One. He's a true gentleman and always aims to make a positive impact.
His job focuses on DNA sequencing, creating software for the rapid sequencers. He says his mother wanted him to become a doctor but he felt this job fit his personality better.
Deshawn is described as being intelligent and calm. His parents were high school sweethearts. His mother, Lily, was an elementary school lunch lady but has since passed away. His father was night security at a museum but Deshawn's salary helped him retire early. Unfortunately, Deshawn and his father are not very close. He's an only child but his mother was a little sad about it, she wanted more but kids are expensive.
During the lie detector test he tells Chloe that he was a bookworm as a child so he wanted to grow up to be a bookstore owner. Deshawn claims that he has been in love before but the lie detector beeped, he clarified that he's unsure. He said he wants kids but the lie detector beeped, he changed his answer to no but the lie detector beeped again leaving everyone confused. He also says he wants a traditional wedding.
During the spa date he washes Chloe's hair and, if you're on his path, you're able to complete his heart after. This takes Chloe and Deshawn to a ring store where he picks out her engagement ring and Chloe can choose to accept it or pick out something else she wants.
If you eliminate Deshawn in Episode 8 you have the choice to reveal his secret: "My congenital heart disease means I won't be a father." He has aortic valve stenosis, a genetic heart condition that he got from his mother where the heart valve becomes narrowed over time. She passed away from the condition but Deshawn was able to receive valve replacement surgery. Because it is a genetic condition, Deshawn decided to get a vasectomy because he didn't want to risk passing it on. His father disagreed with his decision and they've been estranged ever since.

Possible Endings[]
- Deshawn and MC get married. Deshawn suggests MC go back to school after they're married and he'll support her. They have a traditional wedding reception and there is an empty seat where his dad was meant to be but he refused to come.
- If MC eliminates Deshawn in Episode 8, she can decide to reject the last two contestants and reunite with Deshawn in a café.
- Eliminated from the show.
