Darius is a love interest in the book Theodora.
About Darius[]
Darius is a mysterious man living in Paris. He meets Theodora in an alley after she fled Monsieur Lachance's apartment and offers to help her, hinting at his knowledge about Lachance and his true nature.
They meet again in a bar called "Le Lièvre Boiteux" where Darius explains that he has been watching the demon's house, trying to warn potential victims. After recognizing Theodora’s protective amulet, he mentions that it was created by his great-grandfather and reveals himself as a member of a clan called the Guardians. This very old clan passes on important knowledge about demons, their system, the deals and about how to protect yourself from them from generation to generation. Some Guardians are known as the Keepers and get trained especially hard to remember as much knowledge as possible. Unfortunately, Darius' great-grandfather Latif Saravi was exiled together with all his descendants before Darius was even born because, according to the clan, he did something "too dangerous". Despite that, Darius still bears the protective sigil of a Guardian as a mark on his arm.
When Theodora finds out that Monsieur Lachance, the demon who is collecting souls in Paris, is actually doctor John Roberts whom she knows since 1914, they realize that they need to find a way to take John's power away from her. Theodora then introduces John to Darius and they learn that it was Darius' great-grandfather who helped John and gave him the protective amulet meant for Theodora, risiking punishment by his clan in order to help a demon. Darius offers to help Theodora and John in exchange for information about demons in general, the deals and their Lord. Both men don't get along, resulting in a fight which is accidentally witnessed by Marcel, a researcher helping Theodora with his knowledge about demonology. Thankfully, Marcel is excited to learn about demons and becomes part of the group. Together, they all start to meet up at a secluded house in the woods where John trains Theodora to control her demonic energy.
After getting closer to Theodora, Darius tells her that he used to have a sister called Saada and that she was the saddest person he knew. She had a diffucult life, always getting into trouble with the police, and using drugs. Despite that, Darius remembers that she always called him, took him to the movies and even taught him how to skate. Saada made a deal with a demon, only telling Darius about it when the ten years of power she exchanged for her soul were drawing to an end. When her brother got angry, Saada told him she wanted to stop being a loser, a weakling and a bad sister. Because of this loss, Darius is determined to find out how to terminate a contract with a demon.

Possible endings[]
- If they defeat the Lord, Darius is grateful because now his sister's soul can rest in peace.
- If Darius and Theodora are together, they travel through Europe together, making plans to see the whole world. Theodora continues to write articles while Darius takes on commissions for tattoo sketches. On a train, they confess their love for each other. After living an incredible life together with a lot of exciting adventures, Darius dies shortly before Theodora.
- If Daruis and Theodora are not together, Darius goes on a trip to Europe and South America. He shares pictures and funny stories with Theodora and John.
- If Theodora doesn't defeat the Lord but saves her soul, she wakes up in a French hospital, realizing that she suffers from amnesia and doesn’t even remember her own name. She publishes a newspaper ad looking for people who might know her and could tell her who she is. Darius responds to the ad and they meet in the park. The man explains to Theodora that he suffers from partial amnesia too but only lost the last few months and not his whole life. They both agree the other feels familiar as they sit on the bench and hold hands.
- If Theodora doesn't defeat the Lord and doesn't manage to save her soul, she dies in terrible agony and her soul is doomed to eternal suffering. While being tortured by invisible forces, Theodora sees an injured Darius and briefly remembers their time together. He tells her that she failed and will never get out.
