Clive is a love interest in the book Sails in the Fog.

About Clive

Sir Clive Wellington also known simply as 'the Colonist' began this journey as a commander of a merchant ship “Katy White” and later "Black Queen".

As naval officer and governor-general of a British coastal colony he was one of Adelaide’s suitors and would have become her husband if Diego de Ochoa hasn't outranked him.

He is introduced in episode 5 of the first season, where his crew finds Adelaide drifting at sea and saves her. The warmness of their interaction depends on if Adelaide explains who she is, lie or declares herself a rightful governor of Santo Domingo. The whole crew can either die or be saved by Adelaide's magic (diamond choice) and later reunite at the ball organized by Diego.

Nightmares of the fight with undead hunted him along with the fear that everyone would consider him crazy. His name is revealed in later seasons along with his friendship with unfriendly Governor of another British Colony.

Clive is a gentleman of propriety and principles, at one moment ready to shout his absolute love and admiration, at another shy and reserved. Good swimmer and attentive lover, also, reveals himself as a bit of a perfectionist, with a need to have everything noted and marked in the calendar.

Relationships

Adelaide: They can be allies or in a relationship depending on the player's choices. ❗ If you want to romance him, Adelaide has to stay single until Season 2, Episode 10, otherwise, you won't get the romantic option! ❗

If he becomes Adelaide's ally but not romantic partner under certain circumstances, player can act as a matchmaker and hook him up with either pirate captain Ivy or signorina Lorenza.

He asks for Adelaide hand twice, the second time with a diamond-emerald ring.

Possible endings

Adelaide will get to marry and lift the curse. Based on your previous choices Santo Domingo will turn either into pirate colony or independent republic. Clive's experience and connections prove useful and he won't let anything disrupt their peace. If you previously chose to become a spirit, at a certain age Adelaide will wander to the sea and become mermaid, hoping to watch over her kids like this.
If you don't have a relationship with Clive or you don't recruit him as an ally, his screentime will be very limited.
