Christopher and Edward Cadogan are two casual love interests in the book Chasing You 2.
About Christopher and Edward[]
Christopher and Edward Cadogan are two circus acrobats. They work with Uncle Figaro's troupe and perform walks on the tightrope, tricks and hypnosis. They are very close and often finish each other's sentences, always knowing what the other twin thinks.
Agatha, a young woman trying to make it as a female detective in Victorian London, meets the twins when she and her friends visit their circus at Battersea Park. Agatha is chosen to join the twins on the tightrope and manages to perform with them after seemingly getting hypnotized by Edward. A while later, while looking for the Queen's sapphire coronet which was stolen, Agatha encounters the twins again when she invesitigates a location in the slums of London. Suprisingly, the group is able to discover the coronet at a poor man's house, but Agatha remains suspicious of Christopher and Edward. They invite her to the theater and ask her questions about Ezra Anderson, the police commissioner's son. As it turns out, they know about a murder plot involving the commissioner but don't want to give up the name of the assassin. After persuading Agatha to find the client and prevent the murder, the twins seduce her.
The female detecive continues her investigation and eventually finds out that Christopher and Edward were the ones who stole the Queen's coronet. They hypnotized the Palace guards, stole the treasury key from the captain of the guard when he was drunk and planted the coronet with the help of a trained rat. After confronting them, the twins explain that Figaro wanted to rob the royal treasury to save the circus, saying that otherwise there wouldn't be enough money to survive the winter. They knew he was lying but still offered to go through with it in order to make sure the robbery won't fail and destroying their home. As it turns out, it was Figaro who had planned to murder the police commissioner, and he successfully manages to poison him. His son Ezra learns the truth and, because the twins also turned down a hypnosis job he offered them, he takes revenge and has Figaro arrested. The remaining troupe members flee the city and the twins contact Agatha, asking her to save the circus. Agatha manages to hide their involvement in the coronet's disappearance and calls in a favor from Ella, a criminal on the run, to help the circus.
