About Catherine[]

Catherine de Gramont is the Princess of Monaco and part of Prince Philippe's retinue at the Sun Court. She only returned to court recently and meets Renée in a small village while visiting the milliner.

Catherine has been Monaco's princess since her marriage to Louis I of Monaco, Duke of Valentinois. She states that it wasn't a love match, and her husband passed away two years ago. Since then, Catherine has ruled Monaco. Although she dislikes it there, she knows how important her role is for the alliance. Each time she visits Monaco, King Louis XIV gives her a list of instructions and expects her to follow them.

Catherine enjoys her stays at the Sun Court and being part of Prince Philippe's retinue. She's not someone who takes one lover at a time and claims that she doesn't want faithfulness, she prefers to keep it light-hearted. Her brother Armand describes her as headstrong and clever; he also says that she makes enemies as easily as she makes friends.
