Catherine Hill is the main character you play as in the book On Thin Ice.
At the beginning of the story, you can change her name and choose her appearance between four different ethnic features, twelve hairstyles and three outfits (some cost diamonds π). As you progress in the game more hair and clothing options will be available for you - and sometimes makeup and accessories too.
Most choices you make for this character influence one of the following variables: Light π, Darkness π or Balance ππ. Your can also get Authority π₯ points throughout the book. These choices change the story, the interactions you have with other characters and the scenes you will be able to play.
About Catherine
Catherine was a famous figure skater who is struggling after her career collapses from a tragic mistake at the World Championship. That accident injured her and her partner, Tom, changing their lives forever.
Before the tragedy, her mother found out she had cancer and told Catherine's father, who ended up leaving them both as soon as he found out about her illness. Catherine was only 10 years old and her mother encouraged her to become a figure skater. Her daughter's success made her happy and provided for her treatment. Tom's family was helping them, too. And her mother's cancer went into remission.
But everything ground to a halt when Catherine got injured in the championship. After that, her mother relapse due to depression and stress, and she was prescribed with strong pain medication. Catherine couldn't cope with it and, depending on on the playerβs choices, would sometimes steal the medication from her mother or lie to young pharmacists to get extra packets to stash away for herself.
Catherine's mother's last wish was that she makes an appointment with a psychologist to face another tragedy in her life. But she is having a hard time keeping this promise. After the death of her mother, she continued to take the addictive painkillers to numb herself from all the suffering.
The story begins with a flashback from four years ago at the World Championship - every athleteβs dream -, where Catherineβs dream became her worst nightmare.
