Blaine is a love interest in the book Theodora.
About Blaine[]
Blaine is an eccentric Scottish fashion designer and dressmaker who works at Madame Rosetta's House, a burlesque club in the Italian city of Forramo. Theodora meets him when she starts working at the House in 1963.
He's rather reserved, doesn't like crowds and rarely leaves the House, where he also lives in a room attached to his workshop. According to Claudia, one of the House employees, half of the House is pining for him. Blaine likes his job and has a respectful relationship with Rosetta, being grateful to her for the creative freedom she gives him.
After Theodora and Blaine get close, he lets her in on his past (⚠️Trigger Warning: mention of sexual assault, not perpetrated by Blaine). When he was 19, Blaine had to leave his girlfriend Eileen behind and join the army to fight in WW2. Upon his return, he found that she has gotten pregnant in his absence. Without letting her explain, he left, assuming she had been unfaithful. A few months later, he received news from his mother explaining that Eileen had died of childbirth. In a letter she left for Blaine, she explains that the child was the result of a sexual assault she had been victim of. He moved to France and later to Italy, getting a job as a tailor's assistant. Blaine is still tortured by guilt for leaving without hearing Eileen out.
Thanks to his relationship with Theodora - be it friendly or romantic - he manages to forgive himself for his past and feel more hopeful in the future. At the end of the second season, a fire caused by Theodora's enemies ultimately destroys Madame's house, leaving Blaine without a home. Theodora has to leave Italy without being able to say goodbye, but the player can choose to at least write a farewell letter to him.
In 2019, Theodora visits a shop in Paris called "Boutique Rayburn" and meets Blaine's daughter Martina. She tells Theodora that she opened the store in memory of her father, to sell clothes designed by him and fulfill his dream. Her goal is to eventually put her own designs on sale. Despite not finding out about Martina's mother or any other details about Blaine's life after 1963, Theodora feels deeply moved and wishes the girl good luck.

Possible endings[]
- If Theodora defeats the Lord and decides to become mortal again, she remembers Blaine's face before dying. Afterwards, she wakes up in their shared apartment in Italy. Feeling like she just had a scary nightmare, Theodora seeks Blaine's comfort. They spend a quiet, peaceful morning at home – Blaine working on a new costume and Theodora writing an article. Later, they have a picnic in the park and read a book to each other.
- If Theodora doesn't defeat the Lord but saves her soul, she wakes up in a French hospital, realizing that she suffers from amnesia and doesn’t even remember her own name. While sitting on a park bench, Theodora reads an email mentioning a new collection at Rayburn boutique, and she suddenly feels dizzy. Remembering a tailor she was once close to, she swears to find him whatever it takes.
- If Theodora doesn't defeat the Lord and doesn't manage to save her soul, she dies in terrible agony and her soul is doomed to eternal suffering. While being tortured by invisible forces, Theodora sees an injured Blaine and briefly remembers their time together. He tells her that she failed and will never get out.
