Alek is a love interest in the book Wave Patrol.

About Alek

Alek is a surfer and leader of a surfer gang called the Sharks. Other surfers, such as Kayla, look up to him as a mentor and family figure. He is known for being happiest when he is on the water. On dry land he is fairly stoic.

When Alek learned how to surf, he met the predecessors of the Sharks. He was introduced to them by Dude, his close friend and classmate. Alek was in a difficult period in his life back the and felt elevated that he quickly fit in with them. When the Sharks split into their own group because of disagreements between the participants, Alek left with those who were closer to him. Absolutely by chance, he became the leader and “big brother”. He had no choice but to accept it because there was no one else to replace him.

He has history with Jake. They used to be friends and surf together. It appears Alek was going to sell drugs to Jake that would help with Jake's sister Becky's recovery, but Alek ended up selling them to someone else. Jake and him continue to butt heads ever since.

Kim gains Alek's trust while learning to surf and competing against the rival gang the Squids. Later she learns that Alek is working with Dude to move the drugs responsible for the illnesses on the beach.
